Solar PV Panel Prices Set to Increase
Solar PV Panel prices are set to increase in the near future with announcement of tariffs being put on Chinese imports.
Key points
Details of the European Commission anti-dumping investigation outcomes are;
- Tariff immediately increase to an average of 11.8% on all solar PV panel and components imported from China
- Tariffs set to further increase to an average of 46.7% by 6th of August 2013
- If China wasn’t ‘dumping’ panel prices could be as much as 88% higher
- The commission states that “Our action is about ensuring fair competition in respect to international trade rules.”
This news means that solar PV installation costs are very likely to go up between £250 and £1,000 by August as 80% of the solar PV panels in the EU are imported from China. It is unlikely that EU and North American producers will be able to meet demand of all scheduled installations are to go ahead.
WDS Green Energy recommend now as the best time to install a solar PV system before the uncertainty and inevitable prices rises take hold of the market.
